The weather and your skin
YOUR SKIN YEAR ROUND
To a great extent your skin is able to protect itself. Your skin has three layers which each helps to keep the skin supple and elastic. Sometimes, however, it is necessary to extend a helping hand by applying a sun screen or moisturizer. And if you suffer from eczema, you will more often experience periods where your skin feels rough and dry.
If you suffer from eczema or have sensitive skin it is important that you always use moisturizers with a high SPF and without fragrances. The rays of the sun and fragrances both break down your skin's own protective barrier. When you apply sunscreen you have to apply it liberally in order to fully use the UVB factor. A good rule of thumb is: a handful for the whole body.
It is important to use plenty of moisturizer during the coldest months of the year. If you are going to be outside in subzero temperatures it is important that your skin does not get wet and cold. This is why we recommend that you use a cream that lets your skin breathe and wicks the sweat away from the surface of your skin. Use a rich aqueous cream like Neutral Intensiv Creme that moisturizes and allows your skin to breathe. Apply it 20 minutes before going outside in cold weather allowing the water to evaporate from your skin.
