Skin problems

Most people have normal skin. Yet about one third regularly experience symptoms of dry and taut skin. Dry skin may occur because of excessive washing, use of cleaning agents or contact with solvents, etc. Dry skin may also be caused by high temperatures, dry winter air and low air humidity and it is most often visible on our hands or legs or on our faces. How we react to external influences is usually predetermined by our genes. This is why if your parents have a tendency to develop dry skin, chances are that you yourself as well as your children do too.

If you experience prolonged symptoms of dry and coarse skin you may have contact eczema. The symptoms of contact eczema include reddening, itching and bumping of the skin. Frequently contact eczema is caused by excessive use of water and soap, which breaks down the outermost layer of the skin. When the outermost layer of the skin breaks down, substances like nickel, perfume and preservatives have free access to the body. This type of eczema or allergy normally appears on the hands. It can appear suddenly and is usually not harmful at all. You can treat eczema with our intensive cream, Neutral Intensive Cream ((link to 4.2.7)), which quickly adds lots of moisture to your skin thereby restoring its natural moisture balance. If you have any questions about eczema we advise you to contact your physician.
