The pH value of the skin

The pH value of the skin does not fluctuate very much from one part of the body to another. New scientific research shows that the pH value of the skin of the entire body is an average of 4.7. With a low pH value the skin is able to prevent bacteria from accumulating and develop into eczema or dermatitis. The low pH value, combined with the skin’s anatomy, enables the skin to take care of most things on its own. However, it may still be necessary to extend a helping hand by caring for your skin with lotions and creams with a neutral pH value and without any perfumes. If your skin is delicate or sensitive you should wash it with care. Do not leave the soap on your skin for too long and be sure to apply a moisturizer afterwards.

If you have sensitive skin it does not necessarily mean that your skin is out of balance or that its pH value is too high or too low. Some people simply have more sensitive skin than others. We are born with a particular type of skin that stays with us for the rest of our lives. This is why it is important that you care for your skin, just the way it is.
